Symbolic details

Close-up details exploring painted textures, metallic embellishments, symbolic roses, and punk-inspired styling within the work.

process & development

sketch development

Initial sketches and development drawings were used to explore the identity, symbolism, styling, and personality of the goddess figure. Through experimentation with composition, costume design, roses, dramatic silhouettes, and metallic details, the work's visual direction gradually evolved into a stronger theatrical, punk-inspired aesthetic.

The selected sketch was enlarged, taped to the wall, and placed underneath the transparent plastic surface to guide the painting process and composition

painting process

I experimented with painting on transparent plastic sheeting and found the surface difficult to work with acrylic paint. To improve the application of colour and texture, I first painted the plastic white where I was going to paint to create a primed base before applying acrylic paint. An enlarged printed sketch of the goddess was placed underneath the transparent plastic as a template, allowing me to trace and build a layered composition inspired by goddess symbolism, pop culture, and punk and rock influences.

installation & presentation

I also researched different ways to frame and present the works, experimenting with decorative trim and installation methods to achieve a more resolved, immersive outcome. For the final installation, holes were evenly measured and placed along the top of the plastic sheeting. The plastic sheeting was attached to a metal pole with cable ties, allowing the large-scale works to hang freely within the space and reinforcing the project's theatrical atmosphere.

Goddess of passion

Goddess of Passion is the bass guitarist of the all-girl goddess band. Influenced by Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love, beauty, and desire, she represents feminity, passion, and emotional intensity. Symbolic red roses, dramatic colour, and punk-inspired styling reflect themes of love, empowerment, and strength while combining elements of pop, punk, and rock culture.
