goddess of angels

Goddess of Angels is the group's intuitive and spiritual guitarist, combining delicate angelic imagery with an edgy punk and rock aesthetic. Influenced by Iris, the Greek goddess associated with divine connection and celestial guidance, she represents spirituality, protection, empowerment, and emotional strength. Her large angel wings, spiked metal tiara, dramatic styling, and electric guitar blend heavenly symbolism with rebellious energy, reflecting themes of freedom, self-expression, and transformation.

Process & development

sketch development

Initial sketch and development drawings were used to explore the identity, symbolism, costume design, and theatrical styling of the goddess figure. Through experimentation with wings, dramatic silhouettes, metallic accessories, and spiritual imagery, the visual direction gradually evolved into a stronger, celestial and punk-inspired aesthetic.

painting process

I experimented with painting on transparent PVC sheeting and found the surface challenging to work on with acrylic paint. A white painted base was applied first to improve the layering of colour and textures. Enlarged drawings placed under the plastic were used as templates to trace and build the composition. I intuitively thought about colours and paint textures as I developed the painting process, including adding trims and embellishments and gluing them on.

installation & presentation

I explored different presentation methods using decorative trims and embellishments. I thought the faux fur framed it delicately to match the goddess's wings, and I also studded trim for her costume and a metallic trim cut into tassels, and glued them all on, to enhance the theatrical atmosphere of the work. For the final installation, the plastic sheet was attached to the metal pole using cable ties, allowing the large-scale goddess figures to hang freely within the space.
