Odyssey (2024)
Artist Book
This artist's book intertwines symbolism from various realms, including religion, spirituality, mythology, celestial concepts, the supernatural, and elements from pop and punk/rock culture. The metal mannequin, depicted as an angel, embodies a fusion of strength and artificiality, while its handcrafted feather wings signify freedom and transformation.
Each feather has been singed at the edges, inspired by the myth of Icarus, who dared to fly too close to the sun and whose feathers burned. Like Icarus, artists take risks, sometimes getting “burned,” yet they continue to push boundaries. Each feather is inscribed with text that echoes themes of intuition, celestial wonders, and the supernatural. This imagery is contrasted with materials that evoke the pop/rock/punk subculture, another important aspect of my life, alongside spiritual and religious imagery that symbolises protection and devotion. Overall, the piece delves into the interplay between the earthly and the divine, blending fantasy with reality and spirituality with crafted forms.
